Abbie had her 5th eye appointment of the week this afternoon. This week she’s seen her pediatrician (3 times) and pediatric ophthalmologists (2 times). She’s on an oral antibiotic and has a three times a day regiment of a warm compress followed by applying prescription ointment. Her eye has definitely improved, but it's still not better.
Today the Pediatric Ophthalmologist let us know that we’re doing everything we can for Abbie, so at this point she needs to complete 2 weeks of warm compress and prescription ointment treatments 3 times each day, we’ll have 2 weeks "off" where we’ll do nothing, and then we’ll do another 2 weeks of treatments. If after six weeks we have a follow up appointment and if Abbie’s stye isn’t better then we’ll need to talk about the possibility of performing a minor surgery at some point to drain it. It would be a minor surgery, but Abbie would still have to undergo anesthesia so we’re hoping it will clear up on its own over the next few weeks/months.
Through it all Abbie’s been such a happy, brave little trooper – so proud of her!
